QR code quiz

Create a quiz that people join by scanning a QR code

Every Pomlet session comes with a QR code, a PIN and a join link. Players point their phone camera at the code, choose a nickname and are in the game a few seconds later, without installing an app or creating an account. Show the code on the big screen, print it on table cards or posters, or share the link in a chat, then run your quiz live, in teams or in elimination mode.

How it works

  1. Create your quiz

Write your questions, start from a template or generate a draft with AI from your notes or a PDF.

  2. Launch or prepare the session

Choose live, teams, elimination or practice. The waiting room shows the QR code, the PIN and the join link.

  3. Players scan and join

They scan the code with their phone camera, choose a nickname and appear in the waiting room. No app, no account.

  4. Play and show the results

Questions appear on the big screen, answers come from phones and the leaderboard follows each round.

Why a QR code makes joining easy

Three ways in

A QR code, a 6-digit PIN or a join link, so everyone can enter, even when a camera does not cooperate.

No app, no account

Participants answer in any current mobile browser. Only the host needs a Pomlet account.

Print it in advance

Prepare the session in advance to reserve the same PIN and QR code for 7 or 30 days, then print them on invitations, table cards or slides.

Every game mode

Live with a leaderboard, teams, elimination, or practice mode where everyone progresses at their own pace.

Up to 1,000 players

Free covers up to 8 players per session; Pro supports up to 1,000 people joining with the same code.

More than questions

Mix quiz questions with polls, word clouds, idea boards, slides and a collaborative whiteboard in the same session.

Where a QR code quiz works well

  • Wedding: a QR code on each table invites guests to the couple’s quiz.
  • Classroom: students scan the code on the projector and answer in seconds.
  • Conference or trade-show stand: a quick quiz with a leaderboard draws people in.
  • Bar or community quiz night: teams join from one phone per table.
  • Team event or seminar: an icebreaker that starts the moment people sit down.
  • Museum, school trip or open day: a self-paced quiz people scan and complete on the way.

Tips for a smooth start

  • Display the code large enough to be scanned from the back of the room, and show the PIN next to it.
  • Scan it yourself with a phone before the audience arrives.
  • Check that the venue has Wi-Fi or mobile coverage, and share the Wi-Fi details if needed.
  • Leave the waiting room open for a minute or two so latecomers can join before the first question.
