Frequently asked questions

These answers cover the most likely blockers while creating, running, and managing Pomlet sessions.

What is the difference between live and self-paced sessions?

Live sessions are host-paced: everyone moves together, with timers, reveals, leaderboards, and a final podium (Classic, Teams, and Elimination modes). Self-paced sessions have no host: participants move through the quiz independently until a deadline, with no timer, and see the corrections after each question, at the end, or when you share them, while you follow their progress.

Why can't a player join a game?

  • The PIN must be exactly 6 digits.
  • A prepared PIN can be shared before launch; the join page waits until the session opens.
  • In Elimination mode, players who join after the start watch as spectators.
  • The player limit depends on the host's Free or Pro plan.
  • A disconnected player can come back from the same browser to recover their place.
  • With “Computer only”, phones and tablets cannot join the session.
  • In a self-paced session, after the deadline, a new participant sees “This session has been closed since …”: move the deadline with “Edit”. Once you close the session, nobody can join any more.
  • In a self-paced session, a name that has already started asks for its 4-digit code. Forgotten code, or name locked after 5 wrong codes: the participant chooses “Notify the host” and you accept the request on the follow-up page. Two people with the same name? The second one chooses “That's not me” and adds an initial.
  • In a self-paced session on the Free plan, a session holds 8 participants in total, connected or not; removing a participant frees their place, but their name can no longer join.

Who can edit a shared organization quiz?

Members with access to a quiz’s folder can view and launch it. The owner and admins can access every folder; the IT role only sees the folders assigned to it. Editing, deleting, and moving a shared quiz is limited to the quiz creator and organization admins. Any member who can view a quiz can duplicate it and work from the copy.

Why does an explanation not show after the answer?

Explanations appear only when Show explanations is enabled and the graded question has an explanation written. Polls, unevaluated open answers, scales, word clouds, and slides do not have a correct answer.

How does scoring work?

Scored question types are single choice, multiple choice, true / false, ranking, and open answers with evaluation turned on. Each scored question can use standard score, double score, or no score. Speed bonus can be enabled for Live games, and correct streaks add a small bonus.

Where do question audio and video play?

The host plays audio and video on the shared screen. Individual listening is off by default: the host allows it in the quiz settings (“Allow audio on participants’ devices”) or at any time from the volume menu, and can stop it the same way. Each participant then turns on their own audio. Only question sound is included, with no video images, background music or effects. Connections may cause delays; headphones are recommended. In self-paced sessions, each participant enables sound and can replay excerpts. Videos provide their soundtrack only, without video images.

What is the embed for?

The embed generates a standalone iframe for Rise, 360Learning, or any page that accepts iframe embeds. It does not create a PIN, lobby, live game, leaderboard, or session report: it is an individual embedded quiz experience.

Why is my report missing?

A live session’s report is saved when it reaches final results. If it stops earlier (“End the session” under “In progress”, or an abandoned session, which ends after 48 hours without activity), the questions already played are saved in a report marked “interrupted session”; a session stopped before the first question creates none. Self-paced reports update while participants progress through the quiz. Demo games do not create reports.

What is the difference between personal Pro and organization Pro?

Personal Pro is paid by the user and never uses an organization licence. Organization Pro comes from a licence assigned by an admin. Organization licences are billed €9.90/month per licence, or €99/year per licence with the annual plan, with cancellation available anytime and access through the paid period.

Can I switch between monthly and annual?

Yes, from Manage plan. Switching to annual is immediate and starts a full 12-month year from that day: you pay the annual price, minus the unused part of the current month, and the exact amount is shown before you confirm; an email then confirms the amount paid and the new renewal date. Switching back to monthly takes effect at the end of the paid year: until then you keep the annual plan, with no proration, credit or refund, and choosing Annual again for the renewal cancels the switch. The monthly plan is paid by card: an organization paying by invoice first chooses “Pay by card from now on”. Promo codes are entered on the payment page, on the monthly or the annual plan. When switching to annual, a promo code of limited duration (once or for a number of months) ends: the unused part of what you paid this month is deducted, then the annual plan is at the regular price; a permanent promo code is kept. When switching back to monthly, a promotion still running at the end of the paid year continues until it ends, without restarting. A reminder is emailed about 45 days before each annual renewal, by card or by invoice; to not renew, cancel before the renewal date. With invoice payment, you can also decline the renewal afterwards, as long as nothing has been paid on its invoice and before it falls due.

What happens if a payment does not go through?

A banner lets you know in Pomlet, and Stripe or your bank emails you if the card is declined or the payment needs to be confirmed (3D Secure). Update your card in “Manage billing”, or confirm the payment if your bank asks. Without payment, Pro access is suspended (an organization’s licences stay assigned), then the subscription ends. As soon as the payment is settled, Pro access comes back. By invoice (organizations, annual plan), the invoice is payable within 30 days, by bank transfer or card from its page. Pomlet emails you when access is suspended, when it is restored and when the subscription ends. Your content is always kept.

How do I change my card?

In “Manage plan” → “Manage billing”: add the new card, make it your default payment method, then remove the old one. Step by step: the Subscription and billing section.

Where are my invoices and receipts?

The receipt arrives by email after each payment. Your latest invoices are under “Manage plan” → “Payment method and invoices”, and the full history is in “Manage billing”. More details: the Subscription and billing section.

How do I get my company on the invoice?

Enter its name and VAT number on Stripe’s payment page, or later in “Manage billing” for future invoices. To correct an invoice already issued, write to support. See the Subscription and billing section.

How do I cancel?

Personal Pro: account menu → “Manage plan” → “Cancel subscription”. Organization: the owner opens “Teams & access” → “Manage plan” → “Cancel renewal”. You keep Pro until the end of the paid period and can resume the subscription until then. Pro bought in the iPhone app: cancel it in the iPhone settings (your name → Subscriptions). See the Subscription and billing section.

What is Pomlet MCP?

Pomlet MCP connects your account to an external AI assistant such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex, or Claude Code. You create quizzes, whiteboards, and sessions from that assistant. MCP access is included with Free and Pro. Your Pomlet plan limits and any charges from your AI assistant still apply. In an organization, MCP access to the organization’s content is set per member and off by default: an owner or admin turns it on in the MCP column of “Teams & access”. It stays limited to the folders the member can access and to their editing rights. Personal MCP access always stays available. Open the account menu → Account settings → MCP to install https://mcp.pomlet.com/mcp and revoke connections.

How do I connect Claude or ChatGPT?

Open the account menu → Account settings → MCP and choose the Claude or ChatGPT tab. Claude (web or desktop): Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector → server URL https://mcp.pomlet.com/mcp → Connect, then sign in to Pomlet and allow access. ChatGPT: Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings → turn on developer mode, then Create a connector with the same URL and OAuth. Custom connectors depend on your assistant plan, and in a company workspace an admin may need to allow them. Web assistants cannot send files from your computer: give them a public image link or add the file in the editor.

What happens if I add licences while my subscription is set to cancel?

Adding licences still works, but it does not resume the subscription. You're charged the prorated amount for the extra licences right away, covering only the days left until the cancellation date. Those licences stay usable until then, and the subscription still cancels on that date as scheduled. To keep your plan running, resume it from Manage plan before the cancellation date.

Does deleting a folder delete the quizzes inside it?

No. Deleting a folder only removes that filing structure. The quizzes remain available at the top level of the same personal or organization space.

Can I recover content after deleting my account?

Deleting an account immediately ends access to it. Its personal content is kept for 30 days, hidden from everyone, before being permanently erased. If you deleted the account by mistake, contact support@pomlet.com before that period ends. Support checks your request and can attach content that is still retained to a new account with the same verified email address. Creating that account alone does not restore anything automatically. This period applies to account deletion; it is not a recycle bin for an individual quiz or whiteboard deleted separately.
